Edward Paul Murray, CDR (USN ret.) Born in Xenia, Ohio to Edward
and Hazel Murray on November 9, 1936 and passed away peacefully on January 3,
2013. Dad graduated from Salem High School in Salem, IL in 1954, attended
Illinois/S. Illinois Universities earning his Bachelor's Degree in 1958,
graduated Naval Officer's Candidate School in 1959; later earning his MBA at the
Naval Post Graduate School. While in Officers Candidate School, he married
Claire Gionet and they were blessed with five children. He enjoyed a
distinguished 22 year Naval career retiring in 1981 after which he began a
second career in the construction industry, eventually retiring from the U of
A's Facilities, Design, and Construction Department in 2003. He was active
member of both St. Pius Church and Elks
lodge 2532.
Dad is survived by his wife of 51 years, five siblings, (Mike, John, Elaire,
Dennis, and Mark); five children, (Jeff, Gary, Scott, Craig, and Shannon), and
three grandchildren, (Brayleigh, Brennan, and Alexandria). Dad loved all
activities around water, golf, traveling, and was a devoted U of A fan. A
Visitation will be held at BRING'S FUNERAL HOME (6910 E. Broadway) from 6:00
p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 and a Funeral Mass will be held
at St. Pius (1800 Camino Pio Decimo) on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
Dad, we will forever be proud of you and miss you dearly, love your family.
