Dale you are my husband, my
best friend, the love of my life. You provided for your family and you were my
rock. You were the quiet one who just listened and calmed the waters when
needed.
You loved your children,
grandchildren, and great grandchildren. You did everything humanly possible to
be there for your family.
After Dales passing we began
cleaning his shop and we have marveled at his love of Folgers coffee cans. Some
filled with the oddest things, and some waiting empty just incase he needed
them. There were items I had asked him to put in the garbage but only to find
those items in his shop, I know he thought to himself “maybe I can fix this, or
maybe it would be kept so he could possibly use to fix something else later
everything was too good to throw away.”
I was lucky enough to meet
his Navy buddies at his Navy ships reunions. They would sit and look at
pictures and remines of those days gone by. He was so fortunate to have made
lifelong Buddies that he spoke to often by phone or in person.
Dale worked for PG&E for 40
years beginning as a truck driver and ending his career as a line foreman. More
than once we would be on a vacation in another country and he would be taking
pictures of power lines and poles to show the guys at work. He was proud of
the work he did. I know more than one Christmas that he wasn’t with us because
he was out helping to keep electricity on for other families, so their holidays
were better.
But most of all Dale did one
last perfect act of love for us.
2 plus years ago I asked him
to join me in church. I was expecting to get the answer “if he walked into a
church the roof would fall in.” Well guess what he went to church that morning
and the roof didn’t fall in…. Dale heard scripture of Gods words with his heart
and his ears. He gave his heart to our Lord God and accepted the gift of
salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ. I know in my heart that he is
waiting for each of us to join him in heaven. But first we must accept Gods
free gift. The gift of salvation.
John 3:16 says “For God so
loved the world that he gave his only son that whosoever believes in him shall
not perish but have eternal life.”
Dale now has that eternal
life. I will see him again.
Please bow you heads in
prayer
Lord God please bless each of
us here today, speak to our hearts in a special way that we can have happiness
in our hearts and know we will see Dale again. Please bless each of us with a
special memory that will put a smile on our face and help to ease our sorrow. I
ask these things in the name of your precious son, Jesus. AMEN
