Queensbury:
Edwin L. Allen, 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at home
with his loving family at his side.
He was born on January 13, 1936 in Fort Ann, he was son of the late
Edwin E. and Lillian (Washburn) Allen.
Edwin was a veteran of US Navy who served 10 years on the USS
Sigourney and the USS Hull.
On November 30, 1968 he married the love of his life Yvonne Phillips
and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage. Edwin retired from Finch
Pruyn Co. after 30 years of service; he also spent many years
working at the Lake George Steamboat Company. Edwin was a member of
the Disabled American Vets Saratoga Chapter 158. He was an avid
hunter, fisherman and was known as “The Mayor” and “The Yodeler” at
Exit 17 American Campgrounds.
Besides his parents, Edwin is predeceased by his brother, Morgan
Allen; his sister, Betty Allen; his mother-in-law, Vera Phillips;
his father-in-law, Leonard Phillips.
Surviving Edwin is his wife, Yvonne Allen of Queensbury; his son and
daughter-in-law, Mike L. and Christina Allen of Argyle; his son,
Louis E. Allen of Queensbury; his son and daughter-in-law, Leonard
L. and Garbielle Allen of Hudson Falls; his grandson, Jonathon M.
Allen of Argyle; his step-granddaughter, Rebecca Epstein of Hudson
Falls; his step-grandson, Jeramee R. Tucker of Glens Falls; his
brother, Richard “Rip” Allen of Harford; and several nieces and
nephews.
A Funeral service will be conducted at 10 am, on Saturday, May 25,
2013 at Regan Denny Stafford, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury, NY.
Burial will follow at Brown’s Cemetery, Tripoli Road, Fort Ann, NY.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on today Friday,
May 24, 2013 at the funeral home.
