2018 USS HULL (DD945, DD350) REUNION

REUNIONS SUSPENDED

The Association & web page ( http://www.usshullassociation.org/) are still open for business.

                                                                                                            8 February 2018

Shipmates,

This is a bad news reunion letter to USS HULL Association shipmates.

We’ve received requests to hold our biannual reunion someplace other than San Diego or Las Vegas. A Virginia Beach hotel solicited our business and we sought proposals from that area receiving six proposals. Shipmate Frank Solosky volunteered to help and inspect hotels.

But to go any further on specific negotiations with ANY hotel, we had to find out how interested you were in attending THIS reunion and ITS location. The Association ran a survey of over 400 members for interest in an October 2018 reunion in Virginia Beach, Va.

We had 35 YES, 25 NO or Maybe and 398 No Response. The past seven reunions in Las Vegas and San Diego were double and triple that - running from 70 to 105 persons! We must have at least 35 rooms to receive an offset to the hospitality suite cost and 50 diners at each meal to avoid the charge for the banquet room for our two events.

At our last two reunions we had no volunteers step up and offer to run a reunion. As a result at this time, we must suspend HULL bi-annual REUNIONS. Bob Modell and I are no longer able to run reunions especially at long range.

If members will step forward and assume Reunion responsibilities the reunions can continue. The current team is ready and willing to assist you.

Your Association is waiting. It’s your call.

Sincerely,

John McKechnie
